Fredrik Rasten is currently working on a new composition for us entitled “Alloy”. In this composition Fredrik also plays electric guitar with an ebow and it features some stunning harmonic shifts in just intonation, simultaneously modernist and post-romantic in style! The overtone spectrum and sound quality of the electric guitar can be altered with controls to approximate the overtones of the brass instruments. With these resources in mind, Fredrik is focusing on voice leading and complex harmony where timbre and overtone spectra are subtly altered. We play the first version of this new composition on Thursday 21 September in Berlin at KM28, as part of our Well Tuned Brass 2023 series!
