2023
2023 promises to be an exciting year for Zinc & Copper with many new projects and collaborations planned. Here is a summary, of what we know, so far!
Well Tuned Brass & Synth in a Greek Mode
During February, March and April we will work together with the musician, composer and poet Eleni Poulou (The Fall, Organza Ray etc) for a composition and research stipendium, funded by Musikfonds. This project will explore ancient Greek music theory in a contemporary context. Eleni has a wide range of electronic instruments at her dispocal, including the very rare Korg PS3100 - a special feature of this instrument is that each key of the octave can be tuned independently. With the help of a traditional monochord as well as Robin's Tuning Vine software, we will be diving deep into ancient Greek music theory! Rehearsals and recording sessions at Berlintune and Nadel Eins studios will generate a rich palette of material for Eleni's music. Live presentations of this project are planned in Berlin, Athens and more...

Well Tuned Brass 2023
We continue our annual series in Berlin with concerts at the Zwingli-Kirche and in KM28., supported by Initiative Neu Musik Berlin. This year we have the honour of working together with the acclaimed percussionist Robyn Schulkowsky on a brand new composition for brass and percussion by the American composer Christian Wolff. We have devised a special programme entitaled “Metal and Breath” of Wolff’s music, contrasting it with our signature composition “Well Tuned Brass”.
Our concerts in KM28 will have a distinctive Mexican flavour with new works by Juan Felipe Waller and Marisol Jiménez, as well as some well tuned guitar with new works by Frederik Rasten and Julia Reidy.
